The short version
Your videos, your voice and your transcripts stay on your phone. To pick your clips, Yapp sends the text of what you said to an AI model. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for ads, and there are no accounts.
What stays on your phone
Your recordings, their audio, the full transcripts, word timings, your speaking stats, your saved clips and your settings. Transcription happens on your phone.
What is sent for review
Only text: the transcript of a take, its topic, your detected style, transcripts of the reference videos you added to your taste library, simple delivery tags (for example "pause 1.2s" or "slow"), and your past keep and skip calls on suggested clips. It goes through the Yapp server to OpenRouter and the model provider (Claude, by Anthropic) and comes back as clip suggestions. Yapp does not store it.
You can turn AI review off at any time in Settings. Recording still works; reviews pause until you turn it back on.
What the Yapp server keeps
A random ID made for this install of the app, and how many requests it made each day, so we can apply fair daily limits. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or device.
What we never do
No accounts, no tracking, no ads, no selling or sharing your data, no training models on your content.
Photos
Yapp only asks to add clips you choose to your camera roll. It can read videos only when you pick them yourself in the photo picker.
Deleting your data
Deleting a take deletes its video, transcript and review. Deleting the app deletes everything Yapp stored on your phone.
Children
Yapp is not meant for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be in the app and at the Yapp website with a new date.
